Going Global-- my favorite new stamp set!

I just love this new set from the Occasions catalog! In fact, the whole suite is fantastic! The cardbase here is Delightful Dijon. On top of that is a Crumb Cake layer. I stamped the Big Dipper in Delightful Dijon then ran it through the Big Shot with the World  Traveler embossing folder. Next I stamped the globe onto a piece of the Going Places DSP. This was something we did a lot at OnStage, and I love the look! I punched it with the 2" circle punch, and I backed it with a black circle. I added a 3/4" strip of a different DSP from the stack. The final element is the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamped on 1/2" very vanilla. I used the petite pennant pubch on each end. Happy stamping!

Baby shower card

This baby card is for a friend who is having a girl.  I started with the All Abloom DSP stack.  I adhered it to a Pink Pirouette card base.  The flower from Flower Shop is stamped with Mossy Meadow and colored with Daffodil Delight Blendabilities.  The flower center is from the retired set Ciao Baby and is stamped with Mossy Meadow onto Pistachio Pudding.  I cut it out with the smallest circle framelit.  White ribbon and a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes complete the card.

Another fall card

Here is another card I made using the Thankful Tablescape kit.  The bottom piece is from the holder in the kit, and the orange piece was originally a belly band.  I used the edge of my inkpad on the leaves.

A fall card

Saturday was World Card Making Day.  I celebrated by making a card!  Since I'm traveling, I have limited supplies.  Fortunately, I brought my Thankful Tablescape kit!  The cardbase is Crumb Cake, and all of the other supplies came from the kit.  The birch paper ribbon is my favorite, and I added a piece of brown paper ribbon.  I used the new rotary cutter scallop blade on the edge.  I cut a tag shape from the orange paper and crumpled the leaf for texture.

Teenage girl birthday card

Our youngest just turned 19.  Making cards for teenagers can be tough!  Ray requested pink for the color.  I decided to start with Strawberry Slush, and I covered it with washi tape.  I started with a 3" square, moving the tape to form a pattern from the stripes.  Then I punched out the flower.  Since the stripes on the washi tape were gray, I decided to use Smoky Slate as my cardbase and mat for the flower.  I added a Pink Pirouette layer embossed with stripes.  The flower center is a faceted button with a bakers twine bow.  I added Basic Gray faux stitching and a punched sentiment tag.

CAS birthday card

This is a CAS birthday card.  So easy to make!  The cardbase is Daffodil Delight.  The hexagons were punched from Quatrefancy DSP.  I started in the lower left corner and then tried to end my pattern randomly.  That's hard for me, but I like the result!  I added the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes in the bottom corner.

One layer masculine card

I decided to make a one layer card for Ray for Father's Day using The Open Sea.  He loves this set, plus the nautical theme reminds me of my late dad. The cardbase is Crumb Cake.  The colors I used are: Baked Brown Sugar, Soft Sky, Marina Mist, Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry plus Early Espresso for the sentiment.

CAS Father's Day card

This quick CAS (clean and simple) Father's Day card is for my FIL.  Technically, we're not related anymore, but we always will be in my heart!
I haven't been stamping too much lately, but I wanted to get something made.  I got the idea from the butterfly card we did at my workshop.  I used the pre-made note cards and stamped the trees from Serene Silhouettes in Old Olive.  I added the Basic Gray washi tape and the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Old Olive.

Washi tape!

This card features the new washi tape.  I've seen washi tape described as decorative masking tape.  It's also semi-transparent.  We made this card at my workshop last week.  We started with note cards and added the strip of Epic Day washi tape.  The sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes is stamped in Smoky Slate.  The larger butterfly (Papillion Potpourri) is stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe, topped with a Calypso Coral layer and some pearls.  (I got the idea for this card from a similar layout on Pinterest done in all black.)
It would be so easy to make a set of these to give to someone as a gift!

A late Valentine

This is the valentine I made for our 18-year-old.  The DSP is Sycamore Street from SAB, and that is where I got the color combo from.  The card base is Pool Party.  The hearts are: Rich Razzleberry, Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango, Summer Starfruit, and Pool Party, cut with the Heart framelits.  The ribbon is Island Indigo (from SAB) layered over Summer Starfruit.  I used a few dots of Mono Multi to stick them together.  Happy stamping!

Anniversary sketch card

I created the challenges for the Creative Crew on SCS this month.  One of the challenges was to use a sketch to create an anniversary card.  I didn't realize it at the time, but I actually need an anniversary card this month for my husband!  Ray loves this ship, so I decided to use it for my card.  The card base is Crumb Cake with images from The Open Sea stamped in Crumb Cake and Night of Navy.  The sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso.  The DSP is retired Nautical Expedition.  The ship is stamped in Night of Navy, and the ribbon is denim jean ribbon.

Masculine birthday card

I CASEd this card from one I made at Dawn Olchefske's demo event last summer.  Hmm, maybe it was 2 summers ago!  Wow!  Anyway, I started with the layout and stamp set (The Open Sea) and wanted to use the Print Poetry DSP from the Occasions catalog so that helped me figure out my color combo.  The DSP is Midnight Muse and Sahara Sand, so I thought Cherry Cobbler would be a good 3rd color.
The cardbase is Sahara Sand with a layer of Whisper White on top of it.  The next layer is Cherry Cobbler with the globe stamped all over in Midnight Muse.  I cut the DSP then ripped the edge.  I took Cherry Cobbler bakers twine and folded it in half and then in half again.  Next I tied a knot in the middle and separated out the sections before adhering it to the back of the Cherry Cobbler piece.
Although there are several layers here, the card itself is fairly simple.  Other than stamps, ink and paper, the only accessories used were the bakers twine and 2 punches.

Sympathy card

My friend's father died last week, so I needed a sympathy card.  I'd seen a similar card like this on Dawn Olchefske's blog, I think.  (I have it pinned on Pinterest.)
The card base is Baja Breeze.  I used the aquapainter to color Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze and Pacific Point onto Very Vanilla cardstock.  I stamped the image from Serene Silhouettes and the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes in StazOn black.  I'll warn you that the vanilla cardstock buckled from the water, and I'm having a hard time keeping it adhered to the cardbase even with sticky strip.  Next time I'll use watercolor paper!

My first fabric flower

I made this card for the Fab Friday blog challenge, but I missed the deadline.  :(  I've been wanting to make a fabric flower for a while, and I finally did it!  I used Craftin' Owl's tutorial and Twitterpated fabric.  Mine didn't fill the adhesive circle, so I added the Riding Hood Red pleated ribbon.
The card base is Baja Breeze.  I cut a piece of Twitterpated DSP, wet it, crumpled it and dried it with my heat gun.  The ribbons are Baja Breeze seam binding, Riding Hood Red taffeta and Pear Pizzazz twill.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes, punched with the modern label punch, and I cut off the right edge to make it smaller.

Masculine Christmas card

It's Christmas in July for the SCS Creative Crew!  Here is my masculine Christmas card for that challenge.  The cardbase is Cherry Cobbler.  See that Early Espresso layer??  It's the new Coredinations cardstock from the Holiday Mini!  The paper core is a different color (Crumb Cake in this case), so you can emboss it and sand it; I used the Woodgrain embossing folder.  The image is from Lovely as a Tree.  I layered that onto Be of Good Cheer DSP and tied some Cherry Cobbler bakers twine around it.  The sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes is punched with the modern label punch.

St. Patrick's Day projects

Here's the card I made for Ray for St. Patrick's Day.  I got the idea from the door sign we made at the nursing home on Monday night.
The cardbase is Lucky Limeade.  The white layer is 4 X 4 Whisper White with the scallop trim corner punch.  The shamrock is made with Twitterpated DSP punched with the full heart punch, and the stem is the branch from the bird punch.  I added a ribbon knot to cover where the hearts overlap.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes, punched with the modern label punch.

This is a full-sized Altoid tin.  It holds 5 Hershey's nuggets wrapped with an adhesive label stamped with the St Paddy's label from It's a Wrap Holidays.  I wrapped Pumpkin Pie grosgrain and Pear Pizzazz ribbons around the tin and covered the top with retired DSP.

Quilt card for Shirley

It was my mother-in-law's birthday recently, so I had to make a blue card!  I decided to use the new Twitterpated DSP and made a quilt card.  The square lattice embossing folder really makes it look quilted!
The card base is Baja Breeze with accents of Island Indigo, Riding Hood Red and Pear Pizzazz.  The sentiment is punched out with the curly label punch.  I couldn't resist using that Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon and the Teahouse background stamp.

CAS sketch card

This week's CAS (clean and simple) challenge was a sketch.  I like sketches because they get me to try new things!
The original card had stripes, so I used Spice Cake DSP for those.  Along with the sentiment, I added 3 little flower.  The tag is covered with images from Printed Petals.  I added some Pool Party ribbon with a chocolate brad.

CAS color combo card

Wow, I can't believe how fast fall is flying by!  Life has been so busy that I haven't even stamped for a while.  I'm going to try to schedule weekly stamping time now, so hopefully that will work.  I feel much better when I stamp on a regular basis!
I decided to make a quick card to try to get my stamping mojo back.  I'd written down a color combo: Calypso Coral, Riding Hood Red and Basic Gray.  I used Inspired by Nature much like I have in the past to create a sunset-type card.  I wanted to add a little something to it though.  I had a paper butterfly lying on my desk and decided that would look great with the flowers.  I used vellum so I wouldn't have to figure out what color the butterfly should be, LOL.  I also added a vellum tag for the sentiment with a Basic Gray ribbon bow.

CAS color challenge card

I decided to try a challenge last week.  The color challenge was Always Artichoke, So Saffron, Cajun Craze.  Perfect for fall!
The card base is So Saffron.  First, I created the sun.  I punched a 1 1/4" circle out of a Post-It note.  I put the Post-It on the card base and sponged So Saffron.  Then I covered that circle with the punched-out piece and sponged Cajun Craze around the edge of it.  I inked up the trees stamp with Always Artichoke.  It was hard to tell what the color was, so I used an aquapainter and some extra ink to add color and dimension to the hills.  I added the sentiment, a base layer of Cajun Craze and Always Artichoke seam binding ribbon to complete the card.
