Seth's birthday card

Whenever someone on my team has a birthday, I make them a card.  Last Friday was Seth's birthday.  He's a young, cool guy, so I thought I'd make him a funky card.  I used the new Summer Smooches DSP on a Daffodil Delight card base.  (I pulled all of the colors from the DSP!)  I stamped the image from the just retired Take a Spin in Island Indigo ink.  I adhered it to a Rich Razzleberry base and colored in the images.  I added the spinner, and it was done!

Interactive valentine

Today's card combines two of the February Creative Crew challenges.  One challenge is to use Twitterpated DSP or colors.  The other is to use that stamp set you just had to have that's gathering dust on the shelf.
For me, Take a Spin definitely qualifies!  I fell in love with the set right away, but I used it a couple of times and then forgot about it.  After looking at this set, I realized this would make the perfect Valentine card for my hubby.  It describes how I feel about him plus he can play with it!
The cardbase is Baja Breeze.  The striped DSP is layered onto Basic Gray.  I used the new embosslit hearts on the bottom.  Next I added the sentiment from Filled with Love (retired) punched out with the square label punch.  Riding Hood Red pleated ribbon is layered over that.
For the spinner piece, I used markers to ink up the stamp in Island Indigo, Riding Hood Red and Basic Gray.  I punched it out with the 2 1/2" circle punch and then trimmed it down a little more.  The Pear Pizzazz layer is also punched with the 2 1/2" circle punch, and I used the Circle Scissors to cut out a 2 3/4" Island Indigo circle.

Chalkboard spinner card

When I saw this stamp in the Take a Spin set, it reminded me of things you would say to a student which led me to the chalkboard technique. For this technique, you stamp on dark cardstock with white craft ink and then color over the ink with pastels/chalk. I tried to choose colors you would really see for chalk and came up with Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Bashful Blue, Rose Red and Perfect Plum. I can't believe I used so many colors on one card!

Take a Spin!

Hi all! Sorry for my erratic posting! I'm having trouble getting my groove back after the holidays. I've also been so busy commenting on the Creative Crew gallery--184 projects as of today, and I've commented on all of them! Whew!
Here's my third card for the January Creative Crew challenges. This challenge was to showcase products from the new Occasions Mini. I just LOVE this new Take a Spin stamp set, and SU also sells the spinner hands! Markers made coloring this image a snap. I got the color combo from the Color Coach: Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi and Early Espresso.
This is also my twist on the Diva Coffee Break Designs sketch challenge # 209.
Supplies: Stamps: Take a Spin; Paper: Whisper White, Early Espresso, Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist; Ink: Early Espresso, Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist; Accessories: spinner hands, chocolate chip brads, square lattice embossing folder, Whisper White taffeta ribbon, Marina Mist narrow taffeta ribbon
Happy stamping!
