Dare to Get Dirty dirty card

Here is my dirty card!  The cardbase and flower are Crumb Cake.  I made the flower just like the one on the clean card, and then I sponged it with Early Espresso ink.  The embossed layer is Early Espresso Coredinations cardstock run through the same Lacy Brocade embossing folder that I used on the clean card.  Then I sanded it to show the embossing more.
I used a different sentiment from Perfect Punches and Crumb Cake seam binding ribbon to finish my dirty card.

Dare to Get Dirty clean card

For the recent Dare to Get Dirty challenges on SCS, I decided to make 2 versions of the same card: 1 clean and 1 dirty.  Here is my "clean" card.
I used shimmery white cardstock for both the base and the flower.  I punched out the petals with the Blossom Petals builder punch then I wet them and crumpled them up.  I opened them up and used the heat tool to dry them.  An antique brad is the flower center.
I used the Adorning Accents edgelit to cut the edge of the cardbase and then ran it through the Big Shot in the Lacy Brocade embossing folder.  I added rhinestones for accents.  The final touches are white ribbon, and a sentiment from Perfect Punches.
Come back later this week to see my "dirty" card!

Creative Crew sketch card #1

For this month's Creative Crew challenges, we had sort of a bonus challenge:  all of our projects for the month have to use the same color combo.  Each of us picked a color combo.  Mine is the colors of Holly Berry Bouquet DSP.  Patty also gave us a sketch.  I decided to do 2 versions of the sketch, both using the DSP.  Today I'm posting my Christmas card, and my next post will be a birthday card.  I love that this DSP is so versatile!

Another Christmas card

Here's a Christmas card I made using leftovers.  When I made my previous batch of cards, I cut one layer the wrong size, and I cut 5 of them before I realized it!  I challenged myself to create a card using the piece of DSP without trimming it.  My solution was to cut it into 4 equal parts.  I flipped 2 of them to show the other side of the paper.  I adhered those to a layer of Early Espresso and wrapped vanilla velvet ribbon around the middle.  This is attached to a Wild Wasabi cardbase.  The medallion is silver glimmer paper with a sentiment from Perfect Punches.

Mama's birthday card

One of the Creative Crew challenges this month is to make an easel card.  I've never made one before, so I was surprised at how easy it was!  SCS has a great tutorial.   I used Baja Breeze on this card because it's Mama's birthday card, and that's her favorite color.  The base is Blushing Bride.  I stamped the Medallion in Baja Breeze and added Baja Breeze seam binding ribbon.  I put silver glimmer paper on the bottom of the inside of the card and punched the eyelet border punch on the card front so you can see the glimmer paper when the card is closed.  The sentiment from Perfect Punches is popped up, and it holds the card open for display.
Here's a close-up of the star of the card!  It's a rosette; pretty fancy, right?  This was featured in the December Stampin' Success magazine, and I had to try it right away!  You won't believe how easy it is.  I started with a 2 X 8 1/2 piece of Shimmery White cardstock.  I scored it every 1/4" (super easy with Simply Scored).  Next, I punched it with the lace ribbon punch.  After punching, I folded it, alternating the folds (mountain, valley, mountain, valley).  I adhered the 2 ends together then opened it to lay "flat".  I scrunched it into position and adhered it to a small circle of cardstock then added an antique brad.
P.S.  It took 3 stamps to mail this to Mama, and I also added a piece of cardboard to the envelope to protect it.  I hope it worked!

One of my Christmas cards this year

Here's one of the Christmas cards I'll be sending this year.  It's mostly based on a card I made previously for a Creative Crew sketch challenge.  I just changed the tag to a layered image.  The stamps used are Contempo Christmas and Perfect Punches.
The card base is Very Vanilla with a Real Red base behind it.  The Holly Berry Bouquet DSP is layered onto Wild Wasabi.  I love the pop of silver glimmer paper behind the sentiment!  The star on the tree is colored with So Saffron and has Dazzling Details on it.

September Creative Crew sketch

Today's card is for the September Creative Crew sketch.  I really like this sketch and card!  I used Contempo Christmas and Perfect Punches here.  The Christmas tree is embossed with the new Pewter EP from the Holiday Mini.  I used a jingle bell for the star.  The card base is Real Red with the DSP layered onto Early Espresso and popped up with dimensionals.  The tag and sentiment are also on dimensionals.  I used both the vanilla velvet ribbon and Early Espresso quilted satin ribbon from the Holiday Mini as accents.

New colors!

Today's card focuses on In Colors.  Three of them are new: Wisteria Wonder, Lucky Limeade, and Pool Party.  I added Blushing Bride, one of the 2010-2012 In Colors, and Basic Gray.  I used the Fancy Fan letterpress plate again for the background.  This time I used Basic Gray classic ink on it, and the effect is very subtle.
I inked the solid flower stamps first in VersaMark and then regular ink.  This allowed me to add Irridescent Ice EP for some sparkle.
Supplies:  Stamps: Awash with Flowers, Perfect Punches; Paper: Whisper White, Basic Gray, Wisteria Wonder; Ink: VersaMark, Basic Gray, Lucky Limeade, Blushing Bride, Wisteria Wonder; Accessories: Big Shot, Fancy Fan letterpress plate, Irridescent Ice EP, heat tool, Basic Gray taffeta ribbon, wide oval punch

Faux mother of pearl

This card features faux mother of pearl. For this technique, I used scrunched plastic wrap to apply shimmer paint to white cardstock. (I used champagne although frost white is recommended. I also advise to apply it lightly.) After it dried, I sponged on Baja Breeze ink. I used the blossoms punch to punch out petals and then sponged Not Quite Navy ink around the edges of each petal. A Pear Pizzazz glimmer brad holds them all together.
The cardbase is Baja Breeze. The next layer is the sneak peek Paisley DSP. I ran it through the embossing folder and lightly sanded it to show the texture. To gather the ribbon, I applied sticky strip and just bunched up the ribbon and stuck it down as I went. Very technical, LOL!

Double challenge card

Today's card was for two different challenges. One was for this month's WICKED challenge. My good friend Susie Nelson is our WICKED stamper this month. One of her challenges was to make Diana Gibbs' faux tin ceiling. I was able to use a piece I had embossed using Rhonda's cuttlebug. What a fun technique!
The other challenge is this week's Workshop Wow challenge: the forkbow. I saw this demonstrated at regional this spring, and yes, you use a fork to make the perfect bow. That's how I made the bow on yesterday's card. TIP: Taffeta works best for the forkbow because it's thin and pliable.
This card is a redo of a card I just made a few weeks ago, and we also made it at my workshop last week. The other change in the card is that we used thumping to add more color and depth to the hydrangea.
Here is my photo tutorial for the forkbow.

First of all, you need a fork with an even number of tines. The size of the fork will determine the size of the bow. The fork in the picture is the meat fork that came with my silverware. Start with 12" or so of ribbon (longer ribbon if you use a bigger fork). Fold it in half with one half in front of the fork and the other half behind the fork. The back part should be a little longer than the front.

You will always work with the same piece of ribbon, which starts out as the back piece. Bring it around to the front of the fork and put it through the center slot below the front piece.

Pull it tight.

Bring that piece up and back through the center slot again (this time you're bringing it from the back to the front).

Tie it nice and tight. I found that the bow will lay better if you pull the two ends vertical (straight up and down) after the first tie but before knotting.

Slide it off the fork. Here is your finished bow. You can cut the ends short or wrap the extra ribbon around your cardstock.

Double challenge card

I was able to complete 2 challenges with this card. The first challenge was one of Dawn's WICKED challenges to use a wheel. (You can barely see the wheel image across my card base!) The second challenge was Patty's workshop wow challenge to create a tone on tone card, stamping onto colored cardstock instead of a neutral. For my card, I chose to use Certainly Celery and Old Olive. I had several inspirations for parts of this card. First of all, my friend Susie Nelson used Baroque Motifs for this same challenge, and that reminded me that I hadn't used it for a while. Second, one of my blogging sisters, Marilyn, used the ribbon knot on the corner of one of her cards. And third, I saw the 2 ovals layered together on Stampin' Connection. At least adding the felt flower and rhinestone brad was my own idea!
Supplies (all SU): Stamps: Baroque Motifs, Perfect Punches, Friendly Words jumbo wheel; Paper: Certainly Celery, Old Olive; Ink: Certainly Celery, Old Olive; Accessories: wide oval punch, Old Olive satin ribbon, felt flowers, Ice Circle rhinestone brad
