Spring butterflies

It is -17 degrees in Duluth right now, and I am ready for spring!  I recently got the Papillon Potpourri set along with both sizes of the butterfly punch, and I thought the butterflies would be perfect for a spring card.
I stamped the butterflies onto Whisper White cardstock, using black craft ink.  I sprinkled on Irridescent Ice EP and then heat embossed.  Tip: When heating the Irridescent Ice, overheating will melt the glitter!  I watercolored the butterflies with ink and an aquapainter.  I used Riding Hood Red, Tangerine Tango, and Daffodil Delight.  After they dried, I punched them out.  I love that the punches fit the stamps exactly with no white around the edges!
For the orange layer, I chose a sheet of DSP from Summer Smooches.  I stamped the largest label from Layered Labels in Tangerine Tango then cut it out using the Big Shot.  I used the Essentials paper piercing pack around the edges then added white gel pen stitches.
The banner is 4 X 1 1/2 Real Red Coredinations cardstock embossed with the Fancy Fan embossing folder then sanded.  I used the 1 3/8 square punch to cut the tail at the bottom.  The cardbase is Daffodil Delight.

Shirley's birthday card

My MIL Shirley loves blue, so I always make her a blue birthday card.  This card is Midnight Muse, which is one of the new In Colors.  I haven't used the new In Colors much, but I got the Print Poetry DSP from the spring catalog which features them.  I'm hoping this will get me going.  Another great feature of the Print Poetry DSP is that it's 4 1/2 X 6 1/2, so it's easy to use a sheet on a card front.  For this card, I just trimmed the sheet down a bit.  Then I cut the Very Vanilla cardstock to fit inside the frame.  I stamped the sentiment from the Carry On hostess set and added the satin ribbon.  I stamped the cupcake on a separate piece of cardstock and punched it out with the new petite curly label punch from the SAB catalog.

Masculine birthday card

I CASEd this card from one I made at Dawn Olchefske's demo event last summer.  Hmm, maybe it was 2 summers ago!  Wow!  Anyway, I started with the layout and stamp set (The Open Sea) and wanted to use the Print Poetry DSP from the Occasions catalog so that helped me figure out my color combo.  The DSP is Midnight Muse and Sahara Sand, so I thought Cherry Cobbler would be a good 3rd color.
The cardbase is Sahara Sand with a layer of Whisper White on top of it.  The next layer is Cherry Cobbler with the globe stamped all over in Midnight Muse.  I cut the DSP then ripped the edge.  I took Cherry Cobbler bakers twine and folded it in half and then in half again.  Next I tied a knot in the middle and separated out the sections before adhering it to the back of the Cherry Cobbler piece.
Although there are several layers here, the card itself is fairly simple.  Other than stamps, ink and paper, the only accessories used were the bakers twine and 2 punches.

New Occasions and SAB stuff!

Here's the first card I've made with my new stuff!  The cardbase is Summer Starfruit.  I wasn't too sure about this color at first, but it's growing on me!  The DSP is Sycamore Street, and it's one of the freebies for Sale-a-bration!  The Rich Razzleberry button and Pool Party ribbon are also from SAB.  There's also a stamp set and embossing folder that coordinate with the DSP.
The stamp set is called Secret Garden.  It's in the Occasions catalog, and there's a set of framelits that cut out all of the images.

Quick and easy note cards

This fall, Stampin' Up offered a cute kit that contained 8 note cards with envelopes, a doily stamp, a "friends" sentiment, pre-punched flowers and rhinestones.  It also came with 2 spots: Daffodil Delight and Old Olive.
The card on the right shows you what the instructions directed you to do.  (I added some Daffodil Delight ribbon.)  The card on the left is in Wisteria Wonder with pearls instead of rhinestones.
I bought a package of the note cards, so I can make quite a few of these in various colors with different sentiments.
I tried to post this yesterday, but Blogger wouldn't let me upload my photo.  I found a workaround thanks to Splitcoaststampers.  I also updated my blog background.  I made it in My Digital Studio!  I hope you like it.

Paul's birthday card

I made this birthday card for my brother-in-law Paul.  His birthday is today!  I had several goals in mind with this card, and I think I met them all!  First, all of the cardstock I used was scrap.  No full sheets were cut here!  Even the DSP wasn't a full sheet!  Second, I used a neglected stamp set, Pretty Postage.  Third, I used my new borders insert for my Simply Scored board.
Card details: The card base is Whisper White 8 X 5 1/4 mounted onto a 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 piece of Basic Gray.  The DSP is Twitterpated.  I stamped the image in Cherry Cobbler then punched it out with the postage stamp punch.  The squares are 1 3/8 (Certainly Celery), 1 1/2 (Basic Gray), and 1 7/8 (Island Indigo).

Christmas card

This is one of the Christmas cards we'll be sending out this year.  The card base is Very Vanilla 8 X 5 1/4 attached to a 1/4 sheet of Cherry Cobbler.  The Be of Good Cheer DSP layer is 3 3/4 X 5.  I punched out the ornament shape and then traced the hole onto the card front.  This gave me the area to cover with sticky strip or sticky circles and then last year's velvet ribbon.  I popped the DSP up with dimensionals and tied on some Gumball Green ribbon.  I added a second ornament punched from Champagne glimmer paper.
