Krissy's grad card

Our youngest graduated from high school!  Here is the grad card I made for Krissy.  It's from the June issue of Stampin' Success.  They gave us a template, but according to the measurements they gave, the top part is a diamond that is 6 5/8 across by 4 3/8 top to bottom.  This creates 4" sides.  The base is actually a pocket that holds a gift card or money.  It's 4 1/2" at the bottom, 3" at the top, and 2 1/2" tall.  I cut a trapezoid and then rounded the bottom corners with a circle punch.  The front piece of the pocket is embossed with the Big Shot and Stripes embossing folder.
I hope you can see the glittery edges!  I punched silver glitter paper with the ribbon punch.  I cut the strip in half and glued them to the edges.  I did the same with the sentiment.  The tassel is white bakers twine.  The small brad to the left of the sentiment attaches the top to the base and makes the top swivel to reveal the gift in the pocket.

Hanging heart pouch

A few weeks ago, the 3D demo challenge was to make a hanging heart pouch. This adorable project was created by Barb Mullikin. The directions are on her blog here. She used the petal card die for the Big Shot. One of the demos on SCS was kind enough to create a template to use for those of us who don't have the Big Shot. I printed out the pattern onto So Saffron cardstock and then adhered DSP to it (using glue stick) before cutting it out so it would be more sturdy.
I made this for Daniel for Valentine's Day. I used the SaleABration designer paper because it has hearts but it's not too girly. Blue gingham ribbon forms the handle.

Happy Australia Day!

I hope the bottom card isn't too scary for you; it scares me a little, LOL! Monday's demonstratable card challenge was a doozy. Cav, the hostess of that challenge, is Australian, and Australia Day is right around the corner (1/26 I think but not totally sure) so Cav had us use Australia's colors. We could only use Glorious Green, Yoyo Yellow, Whisper White and Very Vanilla. We had to CASE one of our own cards. We had to have an animal or insect somewhere on the card, and it had to be a birthday card. Wow!
The card at the top of the photo is the one I chose to CASE. I added a butterfly from Garden Whimsy as my insect. I'm pretty sure this was the first time I had cut any Glorious Green cardstock; I still had 3 full pieces in there from my first variety pack of cardstock. I think I bought that in about 2002, LOL! The ribbon is whisper white taffeta. I tried sponging it with ink and then ended up using chalk. I think the chalk worked pretty well!
Supplies (all SU): Stamps: Inspired by Nature, Garden Whimsy, Fundamental Phrases; Paper: Whisper White, Glorious Green, Yoyo Yellow; Ink: Glorious Green, Yoyo Yellow; Accessories: ticket corner punch, word window punch, double rectangle punch, pastels, sponge dauber, Whisper White taffeta ribbon

No more Christmas cards!

I don't know about you, but I am tired of Christmas cards! (Not receiving them, just making them.) So today I am posting a non-Christmas card. And I think I came up with something new all on my own! Whoohoo! (At least, I haven't seen this posted anywhere yet.)
I made a flower using the new Heart to Heart punch! It was easy-peasy.
I started with a 1" circle and 8 of the biggest heart from the new punch. I punched these from Parisian Summer DSP. I folded each one in half to give it some dimension and make it look a little more like petals. I adhered 4 of them by the tips using a dot of MonoMulti adhesive. I placed them at 12 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock, and I left a little space in the center.

Then I filled in the other 4. So easy! I added a filigree designer brad to the center.
The mellow moss piece of the card is faux suede. I crumpled it up and then ran it between my thumb and bone folder a bunch of times. Then I peeled the layers apart. Because it was such a big piece, it didn't pull apart in one big piece, but I was able to get it all apart. Then I stamped one of the Boho Backgrounds on it in So Saffron craft ink; it's really hard to see, but it's there! So Saffron polytwill and some hugs and kisses complete the card.
Supplies (all SU): Stamps: Fundamental Phrases, Boho Backgrounds; Paper: Kraft, Mellow Moss, Very Vanilla, Parisian Summer DSP; Ink: Bravo Burgundy, So Saffron craft; Accessories: 1" circle punch, Heart to Heart punch, filigree designer brads, So Saffron polytwill ribbon, Styled Silver hodgepodge hardware, bone folder

Beate's back!

I am so happy that Beate is posting again, and as a bonus, she just got a huge SU order. In fact, she mentioned 15 stamp sets! I can't wait to see what she'll be showing us.
Since Beate is back, so is her weekend sketch challenge. She posts them on Fridays. I don't do them all, but I try. This is my card for this week's sketch. It's a long card, which is harder for me. So I kept it pretty simple. I'm proud that I used so many accessories, especially my new Flower Fusion, which I just got on Friday. (Rhonda and I split them; we are trying to be more cost-effective.) I also used my new DSP, 2 ribbons plus a button, a brad and a pearl. Pretty good, eh? The pink ribbon is the new striped grosgrain, but I didn't want the stripe to show, so I covered it with Chocolate Chip narrow grosgrain. I used sticky strip to adhere them together. The only stamping is the sentiment. My card is a 6 1/2" square scored at 3 1/4". That way it will fit into one of the SU envelopes.
Supplies (all SU): Stamps: Fundamental Phrases; Paper: Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette, Urban Garden DSP; Ink: Chocolate Chip; Accessories: Flower Fusion too, Earth Elements buttons, Styled Silver HPH, Pretties kit, Chocolate chip narrow grosgrain, Pink Pirouette striped grosgrain
If you're a demonstrator, don't forget to check out the new WICKED stamper challenges posted today on SCS. You'll love it!
Happy stamping, and Happy Labor Day!
