Saturday, I took Mama to Clearwater Beach. It was overcast but still very hot! On the way back, we stopped to visit my cousin Michele at her shop in Dunedin. That evening, we went to see Eat, Pray, Love. Boy did that Italian food look yummy! Below is a photo of Michele and Mama at the movie.

I'm in Florida with limited supplies, so I'm stamping CAS (clean and simple). Mama is here with me, so we did some stamping last night. I took her picture, but she won't let me post it. She made 5 cards today (3 while I was at work), and I made 2.
Back in 2007, I made some quarter fold cards. They are so fun! For a tutorial, check out this post. I also challenged myself to make a non-Christmas card with my holiday DSP.
Here are the 2 projects we made at the workshop on Wednesday. Pauline, Deb and I had such a good time!
This card is similar to one I already made, but I love the colors so much more! The image was stenciled in More Mustard with a sponge. Then I added Cherry Cobbler with a sponge dauber (for more control). The card base is Very Vanilla, and it's attached to a piece of More Mustard. Cherry Cobbler seam binding (from the upcoming Holiday Mini) adds the finishing touch.
Last week's 3D demo challenge was to make a little book using Japanese bookbinding. I decided to use it on a card instead. I was hoping to do this in a small workshop, but that's not gonna happen! I think I needed bigger holes; I used the paper piercing tool. I pushed so hard on that needle that I got a little blister on my finger! I do love the look though. The paper is the new Sunny Garden DSP, and the flower is from Eastern Blooms. I love that set and don't use it often enough!
I don't think that would be the "official" name of this card, but it does look like a paint chip, right? I was inspired by this card by LeeAnn Greff. My strips are 1 1/8 X 2 1/2. I used the block size to help me figure that out. I used dotto to adhere the strips right next to each other on a scrap piece of paper, stamped the image, then sprayed with Vanilla Smooch Spritz. I separated them and adhered them to a Shimmery White card base which is attached to a card-sized piece of Night of Navy. I think the bottom needs a sentiment, but I'm going to wait to stamp that after I decide who it's for.
For this week's workshop wow, Patty gave us a WILD color combo to try: Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight. Wow! I had been playing around with thoughts of how to use the Medallion BG stamp to make little corner accents, so I decided to really go outside the box and use this color combo on an elegant card.

I was able to make this card in 15 minutes thanks to SU's gorgeous stencils. I got the Elegant Trio stencils. Besides this flourish, there's a fleur de lis and a flower. All 3 are the perfect size for cards; this flourish is the largest. (The stencils are in the Decor Elements catalog linked on the right.)
I'm embarrassed to admit that I have pretty much ignored the Summer Mini. Maybe it's because my summer has been so busy. Anyway, I decided to take some inspiration from the Summer Mini. I started with the card on P16A. I used it as a sketch. I changed the color combo slightly, taking my colors from the Travel Journal DSP from the Summer Mini. My sentiment is from the In a Word stamp set from the Summer Mini as well. Only 22 days of the Summer Mini left!

The Lego store was small but amazing. This is a snake that appeared to be coming in and out of the wall, and it had swallowed a big Lego block!
This giraffe was huge! I could walk underneath it!
